Fire Kitchen – 9/10/2020

Consumption, consumption and more consumption.  This is the destructive animal we have become.  We may voice concerns for the environment, but we gleefully exercise our greed for materialism and choose to be oblivious to the cost of such behavior.  As the world marches to eight billion souls, the Earth shudders under its negligent weight and despite her screams and wails of agony, we continue to gnaw at her open wound like hungry savages.  We are the destroyers and invite willingly the horsemen of the apocalypse into our homes filled with tawdry appointments of zealous self importance and fragile egos.  We eagerly trample each other to acquire the latest gear in commercialism and surround ourselves with tchotchkes that entertain and lose value in a blink of an eye.  The essence of decency and conservation are fading with the same ferocity that burns our country.  A breaking point looms in the distance shrouded by the opaque sense of worth and when it arrives, we will be ill prepared.  What can be done?  More than you realize and it starts with your personal choices.  A drop in a bucket creates a rippling wave of energy and change.  Be that change.
