R & B Jams – 7/21/2020

There is a smell of rain in the air yet the pesky mistress of sky water has yet to yield her hand onto the arid lands before me.  Darkened clouds tease the eye and you can hear the soft pucker of parched fauna waiting for the hallowed drops of mist to moisten their tongues and give life back to their stricken bodies.  A downpour here is a rarity and when it happens, we celebrate its arrival with fleeting praise for it will depart just as quickly.  Yet as far as the horizon will allow, new developments of expansive homes continue to rise from the desert sands like weeds and the fear they will siphon all the available water to come is like a looming succubus.  I have trepidations for the life out here for they will eventually lose to commercial enterprises.  And as greed covets the appetites of developers, the forecast for a stable and vibrant community will go unforeseen until we are battling neighborhoods for the fluids we need.  Oh the tragedy will heed no mercy to the rising voices of the desperate.  It will entwine deathly gasps with the false vision of riches and the land will burn from its pittance.
