Gilbert Groove – 1/10/2022

The measured words of my father spoken through humble lips and thoughtful glances resonate within my memory as I`m reminded of the grim finality of death. Unbeknownst to me, as I hurtled through the sky nearly 4,000 miles from my parents` home, he lay succumbing to the unrelenting hands of age amid the sterile backdrop of a medical facility. I had spoken with him momentarily the night past when he had a brief respite from his physical anguish and hope squirmed into my imagination. Not until I disembarked into the sandy landscape of Arizona did I hear the dreaded notice from my tearful mother that the life of her husband had passed.

Though a cliche to most, it goes without saying that the most precious things in our lives are often overlooked and sadly forgotten as we muster through our daily existence. Reflect and get on the phone!
