Gilbert Groove – 3/28/2023

As I stroll through the crowded aisles of the megamarket with its behemoth displays of overindulgence packed in economically sensible sizes for all the world to see, I take notice of the masked avengers in all shapes and sizes. Like some downtrodden version of a shanty Halloween fair with all the inhabitants bound to wear one costume fits all, it is rather eerie not to see the random faces of civilization normally displayed in such corridors to consumerism. Like a budget film of dystopian theme where the costume department was given a dollar to outfit the entire cast, the cast of characters walk by anonymously yet their distinct characteristics can be gleaned if one takes particular notice of such details. I am no stranger to having large swaths of the public in haute medical attire for Japan and Korea are quite akin to such devices and their uses. But here it is worn like a prison uniform with the occasional revoltee making glaring accusations that his personal freedoms are at risk. Foolish nonsense, but a distinct personality of the American landscape with its all its glory and tomfoolery. It is, but a passing moment (we hope) that such endeavors are necessary so please for the sake of all, protect yourselves out there for there will be again a time where we can breathe in the stank air of each other`s appalling breath once more.
