Gilbert Groove – 9/3/2022

Some are born with kindness while the remaining herd is taught the simple etiquette through laborious repetition and the forceful gaze of mindful parents. And then there are the strays and inherently hopeless lot that find no use for displays of humanity beyond wiping their own ass with the pages of their own ineptitude. My own source of this habit definitely has a noble lineage from my parents and aside from a few incognizant stills of memorable moments where their teachings were clearly poignant, I do not recall an active course of education on the subject. But somehow, it has found itself into my psyche on a cellular level. I enjoy random acts of chivalry and well mannered antics whether they are affirmed with gratitude or go blindly unnoticed. I particularly enjoy opening doors for people and laugh when they pass by as if it were my god given duty to do so. Perhaps there is a selfish tone or pangs of guilt to subdue when I leave care packages next to the homeless souls that dot any city landscape. I`m not good at gifting compliments as I find them embarrassing especially as a recipient. I just find the idea and notion of littering the day with random acts of kindness to be one of the most spontaneous things one can do given the monotony of just gliding through.
