Gilbert Groove – 7/22/2022

I am one of those opposed to home ownership, one of those that seemingly lost my mind not to want to own a house/apartment, one that doesn`t see the missed opportunity in such a stellar investment for the future. I have a dramatic and financial foundation for not following the path of so many which is rooted in real choices and preferences for how I live my days. But one particular notion of communal living is the tyrannical obesity of home owners associations (HOA) or their apartment equivalents that add an apparently thin veil of involvement to hide their enormous dictatorship over their minions. In the burbs, they constantly monitor their properties through a busy, ant-like network of spectral spies who report diligently back to their overlords for any slight transgressions to their standards of living in their inner circle. Property values are their bread and butter behind their long arm of subjugating power and few have the gumption to rise against them for fear of retribution and a lashing mark on their clipboard of eternal memory. I face that now and despite the catastrophic dystopia playing out, they remain adamant in their ways. We shall fight! Damn it, we shall fight.
