Gilbert Groove – 8/21/2021

We all experience death in our own way and place levity on each occasion by how it touched our lives even for a moment. In the briefest of history, we sat center stage as the cascading mortality began to swell and abate and then once again come roaring back like an evening tide. We were alarmed by not yet fearful enough to take heart to what was unfolding in borders far away. Only when the ravages of this beast became too real and far more overwhelming that we anticipated did we start to take heed. Then complacency made a lounge chair in our minds and we once again invited chaos back into our lives while we grumble and grunt, pointing fingers and making grand proclamations of our rights as our neighbors fell into darkness. My own losses were heavy even before the rise of the fiery virus. Having taken a few rabid body blows and a concussive mark on my destiny, I moved forward, always forward, without expectation but with a purpose. Any glimmer of frustration or clamors of complaint are subdued by the news of tragedy and suffering that we are so blind to having discarded their relevance to the trash heap of gluttony and pleasure. It seems we are again to enter the breach once more, but we enter the fray divided.
