The Shuzz – 6/19/2020

Within a dark wood infused by the foggy condensation of water and the hollow echos of unseen life, furtive and industrious in their daily routine, I move with poignant steps to limit the damage of my presence and to avoid disturbing the quiet. An ambient light flirts with the denseness of the forest and I have no cause for alarm for lack of vision and losing my awareness in the pristine woodlands. I have bounded into this enclave of wild just a hundred meters from a wellspring of cherry blossoms and a tithe of a population meandering the grounds of the observatory. A promise of native creatures and burrowing trails was too enticing not to accept and a welcome reprieve from the pedestrian views of the manicured trees. If not for the faint transgressions in the sloping base to indicate a walking trail, one could easily lose all sense of direction and be one with the forest…that is before panic set in as the light faded and your bladder squealed to be relieved. I let myself sit on a long deceased tree that still held its noble shape as it lay embraced by the earthen soil and mindful of where I was, I let the surroundings dictate my thinking. This was a form of meditation that I could relate to and give into with all my being sans the greatest tunes of monastery monks. I am at peace…..
