Monterey Mix – 12/18/2021

As I went under the drill enjoying the tantalizing effects of novacaine and the fun filled interior design of dental abodes, I lay there thinking of life. An odd time for sure, but when all you can do is lie still while your gaping maw is inviting mechanical beasts into its lair, you don`t have much else to ponder. As the thrumming sound of metal whirled about my head, I thought about the mundane, the important things that make our existence what it is. Our fragile egos can easily be displaced by the simplest and ridiculous notions. We fret to and fro from our psyches and we forget the purest joys of living. We constantly want and desire what others have. We feel sad and impotent when things go wrong. Yet there is so much more and so many others that harbor deeper fears and endure far more hardship than we are accustomed to. As we go through our daily routines in a sort of suspended animation, we should remember what makes life worth living. Not the adornments and shiny toys of acquisition. When you edge toward the cliff of eternity, these things will only be baggage and we will wonder why we even sought such material items with the vehemence and ambition of mindless beings.
