Monterey Mix – 3/25/2022

Lilting starlight cascaded across the illuminated night with jack rabbit speed when one was able to snare one its visionary path. A dog with a baritone voice made himself aware by vocalizing his frustration into the darkened sky. A quiet chill had settled in the neighborhood and the lack of audible conversation indicated the absence of other twilight gazers. For me, this was my ultimate communion with the heavens. No chanting of rhetorical verses from dusty historical text or group renditions of biblical karaoke for this subjective soul. The well traveled trajectories of galactic planets and the pick-a-boo antics of the moon were enough to fill my imagination with the beauty that steeps the black horizon each day. The rascally mood and playfulness of a shooting rock that blazes across the atmosphere before evaporating into nothingness. The soft chatter of nocturnal life emerging from their dens. I was connected. I was whole. I was getting cold and freaking tired. Off to bed for this aging cynic.
