Monterey Mix – 5/6/2020

I stand aloft a precarious perch as the winds of chaos pummel my stature with howling disdain. Below me are gnarled faces and screaming tongues angrily castigating their furor upon my weary flesh. All manner of beasts encircle us waiting eagerly to feed upon the foolish and self-absorbed. Many leagues distant, across an unknown expanse of time and uncertainty, a glimmer of a future can be tasted by the eyes, but the scent is weak and the flavors bland. Messages of promise and small feats of victory are well known, but they fall prey to muted minds and restless souls. The specter of mortality walks with haste among us and delights at the sheer bounty of the willing to nestle into its arms. The powers above in both government and holistic religion are in shambles and many that claim to be their ambassadors speak in tongues and are busy collecting tithes of misfortune. Will there be a tomorrow for us take in the splendor of the world and to share mirth and bountiful feasts with candid friends and unwavering family? I believe there is. It may seem unrecognizable, but that may be both an encouraging mural and a way of reckoning with our own wandering path of misjudgments and opaque actions.
