Monterey Mix – 5/6/2022

Like birthdays, there is an anniversary strolling through the neighborhood of our memories of which we probably prefer not to celebrate let alone acknowledge.  It has been a daunting year with the levels of despair hitting all the ranges of emotion that one can muster in a human lifetime.  I remember my childhood being far less eventful in the way of trauma and national suffering.  I genuinely feel deep scars of empathy for today`s youth that have had so many things taken away from their collective experiences that we took for granted in our youth.  It may embolden them or it may break their exuberant spirits.  The hope of a unified nation to confront such mental atrocities seems far fetched and that is a tearful reminder that the world can sometimes be cruel beyond our reckoning and understanding.  But suffering exists on so many levels across this vast space of providence and we are numb to its existence until it enters our backyard with fireworks and screams of pain.  Take pity on yourself and empathize with the people you once took  no notice of.  It`s a small world out there.
