Monterey Mix – 6/12/2022

I have a fettered appreciation for astrology given its long and melodramatic fascination by the Earth bound inhabitants that have gazed upon the celestial lights and scribbled down lucid dreamlike tales of their meaning. Before the notion of an all powerful entity that ruled the cosmos as an eternal bachelor, the realm of the indecipherable and head scratching phenomena was squarely put on the broad shoulders of the inexplicable. The wind, the sun, an eclipse, a particularly bad case of the butt bubbles, they all had dubious if not benevolent, but mischievous deities behind them. Whether in fear or in awe, we worshipped or offered vulgar praises for their acts of unearthly powers. And with clever thoughts and untamed imagination, the early pioneers of star gazing puzzled out the first connect the dots pictures of all manner of creatures and dazzling beings to fill the night sky with a perpetual kaleidoscope of shiny pictograms that always came back the very next day like comforting galactic teddy bears. And we assigned backstories to go with the mythical incantations and those who fell under the guise of one inherited the ethos and mannerisms of that said being and we were destined to follow in their wake as a mini-me – but like some bad Gremlins remake, there were thousands of us bound to this destiny.

My sign of half man/half horse hunter is Sagittarius (or chicken if you like the Chinese zodiac) and I do fall in line with the core attributes of this marker. Have I followed the advice of this pictograph in my life decisions? Did I go on that date or find fortune in a cookie as so many publications insisted? No, but it`s fun so mock me all you want.
