Monterey Mix – 7/6/2022

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…..I definitely could use some of that shadow (aka shade) as we lurch forward into the darkest armpit of summer and the heat index rivals the devil`s recreational villa. Millions of tormented souls are aching to drown out their misery with the cool waters of whatever is available…some even shaking off the sense of doom to dip their locker room feet into the festering waters of their locale. I prefer to shelter in the superficially chilled rooms of home enjoying endless cups of iced coffee and enough cookies n` cream ice cream to start sweating Oreos. The poor little felines I have adopted are sizzling away in a patch of tall plants barely providing cover despite the cardboard condominiums I constructed to give them respite. But the extremely wary mother will not leave her nest to move into cozy hideaway despite the open buffet and water fountain – sometimes instincts suck. So I offer iced water for their parched throats when they do venture out and a bounty of shredded chicken awaits their evening appetites. Their initial armor of suspicion has given way to being hand fed and hopefully as they gain a few weeks of wisdom, they will offer their curiosities and allow for a belly rub. Life`s little pleasures….

So find your oasis in this wretched heat and mind numbing house arrest for the days will cometh with joy and the opportunity to breath the sweet air again without some rancid droplet infused breeze ruining the day.
